I've been a professional photographer for 10 years. Following my 2 boys around with a camera started a true love for catching those little moments that fly by all too quickly. I wanted to freeze those little bits of life that were moving by me like a fast flying freight train.
I've been lucky to photograph hundreds of newborns in the hospital, but nothing beats photographing newborns and their parents at home.
I'd love to help you tell your story. Whether you need headshots that stand out and show the best part of you, or want to take a some time with your family to freeze frame who you are to each other...right now.
If we end up working together I promise to work with you to tell your unique story in beautiful, joyful, authentic images, from your baby's eyelashes and toes to those silly, toddler's giggles. In the end, I want you to have images on your wall or a book in your hands that remind you at a glance of all your many blessings.
A Little Background Info:
My First Camera was an Ansomatic 236 point and shoot. My Mom and Dad gave it to me when I was in the 4th grade. I took it to school with me everyday, taking pictures of my friends and endless pictures of sunsets and clouds. I couldn't wait for the film to be developed to see what I'd captured. I've always loved photography and been fascinated by the way the camera can grab a moment and immortalize it... a story told in the fraction of a second it takes for the shutter to open and close.
I enjoy photographing everything including simple objects, nature and abstracts, but the thing I find most satisfying is photographing people. I love capturing unexpected moments at events when people forget there's a camera around and are simply enjoying each other. I love the one on one relationship of taking headshots and portraits. It's that magic feeling that I can only equate to an athlete being "in the zone". Time simply flies.
My road to professional photography was a long one. I had no plans to be a professional photographer. My first career was acting. For 10 years I enjoyed the challenge and rush of performing in NYC and regional theaters. (I met my husband, John, on a national tour in 1997.) Two children later, I had a "Shazam" moment, literally waking up in the morning and telling my husband that I was going to become a professional photographer. I bought my first "real camera" that day and enrolled in NYIP's professional photography course. Since then, I carry my camera everywhere. (I have a large purse.)
Over time, I discovered that I have a unique talent for making people comfortable in front of the camera. People I've photographed have told me again and again that they had more fun than they ever expected.
Photography is a story telling medium. I am a storyteller with a camera.
