My Current Podcast Favorites - 3/4/19
I recently disclosed on my Instagram feed and Facebook page that I am a Podcast Junkie. I've decided that I simply cannot keep this to myself any longer.
The first show that got me completely hooked was "This American Life" via NPR Public Radio. For awhile there, I thought I wanted to become a radio producer doing day-in-the-life type human interest stories. Their show is by turns, funny, touching and ironic. It made me realize the power of listening to stories... It was my first hit... I wanted more!
And so... Many of the podcasts on this list started as, and still are radio shows from NPR with topics that range from pop culture (Studio 360 and Bullseye with Jesse Thorn) to deep dives into science stories that are really entertaining (RadioLab). (For a chance to laugh at the news there's always Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!)
In the last couple of years, I've really started to dig into growing my photography business. As a "Creative Type", I had a lot to learn! So, there are a few on this list that have a focus on business growth and marketing. (Personal Brand Journey with Jamie M. Swanson, The Business of Photography Podcast, Building a StoryBrand with Donald Miller, How I Built this with Guy Raz) A few of them are explorations of human potential and are just inspiring to me. (On Being with Krista Tippett, TED Radio Hour)
Oh, and a special shout out to one of my dearest friends. She's a cancer survivor and has since become a Life Coach for people who have been diagnosed with cancer and their care givers. Her podcast is Mama Bear Cancer Coach. Through her show she offers a safe space for cancer support by sharing stories, experiences, products and resources.
You might think I just sit around all day, listening to podcasts, but what I really love about them is that I'm able to listen while doing other things. But truly.... I need more time! Here's a list of current favorites (in no particular order) with links to get you started if you're interested. I'll be sharing reviews and links to some of my favorite episodes every week on Wednesdays. Watch my Instagram feed or Facebook page if you want to follow along.
Oh, and PLEASE let me know if there are any podcasts you think I should listen to that aren't on this list!
